Flora Typography Art & Design

I started the design process by examining the different colors and shapes of plants from various habitats and picking a suitable color palette. This design is separated into 3 groups and mainly focuses on using split-complementary color schemes. Thus each section of letters utilize different colors each time while still practicing unity. Using Illustrator, I created the main letters using rectangular shapes with rounded corners. Each plant is hand-drawn with my photo references. As you can see, I was a bit conservative in the first section but grew to be more comfortable with creating more complex plant illustrations in the later sections. Some examples of plants that I took inspiration from were the Persian Shield, Red Peruvian Lily, Swiss Cheese Plant, Orange Poppies and the Golden Sedum.
